O2 are a bunch of airheaded fools
Hey kids! here is why not to have a mobile phone on O2. This is an actual e-mail I sent them, for reasons found within this letter...
To whom it may concern,
Due to your companies foolishness I have a problem with my phone. At the end of last year my Dad got me a new contract phone on the O2 online 500 pay monthly tariff. When I got the phone first there was something wrong with the phone number they issued (as well as with a lot of other people apparently) so they had to give me a new number. Last Monday (the 6th of January) my phone stopped working, it gave me a message when I turned it on ?SIM Card not registered?. This kept up all day so I rang up in the evening. After about 60 minutes of trying I finally get through to someone who tells me that my bills have been paid, and I need to call a premium number to get a new sim card issued as that is at fault. I get sent a new sim card which arrives today, but it fails to register again, even after being activated. Meanwhile my girlfriend (who thought my phone was now working) sends me a text, to which some other person replies, because O2 have issued my number to him.
After calling this guy up (on my old phone number) it turns out that he had the number until November or something when he lost his phone. I think he called up O2 to get the number deactivated so no-one who found it could maliciously use it. Either that or O2 automatically deactivated it. Anyway in the first incident of messed up numbers O2 assigned me his deactivated number. Now however he?s got a new phone, and requested that his company (I don?t know whether he is on O2 or not, I imagine he is) give him his old number back. They have, which means that I don?t have a number any more. Now I can?t really demand my number back as that would be very unfair on him, as he has done nothing wrong. I?m also worried that my contract number will be transferred over to him as some woman on the phone promised me that she?d fix my number problem by this evening, before I found out about this guy having my number.
So basically I need a new number, and I?d think it makes sense for the guy who now has my number to keep his number. Fortunately for your company, I still have my old pay as you go phone that I don?t use anymore (well I?m using it now, so people can ring me, but I have no credit on it so I can?t phone out). Now if your company could transfer my old pay as you go number to my new contract phone (which I?m sure they could somehow) it would solve everything. And if they could do this soon (like within the weekend) I?d be much appreciative. Also if you could cease any stupidness with this contract number and leave it with the guy who first had it that would help a lot.
Anyway that?s my situation. Sorry for acting so irate but understandably I am really quite annoyed.
Sincerely yours
Mark Walley
