I like to make it perfectly clear I have no objects to protests. I have no objections to people using their democratic right to protest. I have no objection to people protesting outside the main government building of their local major town. I do however, have objections to people then standing in the middle of the most important bus route in sheffield, bringing public transport to a halt. Even more so i have objections to people yelling out "police brutality" when the police kindly ask them to move along/back/forward/any direction they like so long as it's off the road. gah I'm getting so old! I'm gonna start moaning about bus fares soon.
--update--
Stupid late trains, I got home stupidly late. Grrr
Anyway, I say we should quit marching as we are. We should instead start doing sit down vigils every night, to show the troops that we are hoping/praying for their saftey and for the safe end to the war. It seems better than just carrying on with the same thing we where doing a month a go
mmmmm hilarious. :S
Why do you have to sit out in a street to show u r supporting the troops? Its not like they can see u (or care for that matter). And as for people protesting against the war.....well they need some education. I am saddened by the fact that so many people are using the war as an excuse to "protest". I have seen 13 yr old kids sitting in the middle of the road.....i may be being a lil harsh but 13 yr old kids have no idea about the reasons for war. They are just doing it to a) bunk of school b) hav one of those disorders which makes u hav to be the centre of attention all the time c) cos there "mates" are. The latest unbiased report (and there arent many of those around) i read told of an iraqi woman put through an industrial shredder. So all though i do think in the back of Bush's mind is the oil and i do think he will very quickly forget about israiel & palestine, i think this war is "the lesser of two evils". Hmmmmm i should of really used my blog for this. Meh, nevermind.
I totally agree Bob.
War! What's it good for? Mitching lessons! And pretending you are cool and have poltical views.
i like to pretend im cool and have political views. but im too lazy to march about. so i wore a peace badge.
I have a 13 year-old friend (no, wait, she's 14, but only just) who has been going on all the Oxford protests, including one walking out of school. She seems intelligent enough to understand about the war...
just not intelligent enough to realise that protesting is doing nothing to help, especially not qhen you bunk off school to do it, and the only sensible reason is just to show your opinion... but a stop the war badge can do that just as well.
Letting kids do protests of their own is so silly, they don't understand the meaning of 'peaceful protests'. Its all gone wrong. I agree with badges though.
my friend went cos his girlfriend wanted him to. hes actually kinda pro-war, but he hasnt told her yet. hehe
Hahaha. Made up statistics by me.. Why people went on protests march..
I WANNA SEE A REAL HIPPY
So what do u christians think now that they have found Scuds?? Aye aye?? Anti-war freaks.........
Not all Christians are anti-war, nor are they all freaks. I, for one, support the decision to go to war. Did you see the footage of the Iraqi civilians coming out and hugging and thanking US and British troops as they went through and tore down posters and billboards of Saddam. The Iraqi citizens are praising the troops and are so happy for what they are doing. They want Saddam out.
I still might qualify for a freak, though.
Ahhh well I appolagise - i just guessed you guys were all against war cause Walley and his misses are always talking aboot 'do-nothing' protest.. Seriously they should give up. Its like when soldiers came back from Nam who had NO chance to fight all the christians and hippies spat on them for fighting something most of them didnt even beleive in....damn Goooks
I meant no Choice to fight...
Hey, I went to one anti-war protest! And while I do still think that they shouldn't have to gone to war (at least not then), it doesn't mean I'm gonna go spit on some troops.
Actually Kudos to the coalition, they've actually done a very neat and tidy job so far, and gone out of their way and risked their own soldiers to protect innocent citizens and to not destroy the infrastructure.
I say well done to the soliders.
That said it's partly because of the mass of people protesting the war that they've been so careful in this war.
And hey, I hate to tell you but...
"US says Iraq has not fired any Scud missiles so far - and US forces have found no caches of weapons of mass destruction."
You can read the rest here
So why does this article http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/03/20/iraq/main544972.shtml say that 3 scuds have been fired then?
Firstly, a scud is not a weapon of mass distruction - it is a long range ballistic missile which, with the right warhead, be biological, nuclear or chemical. Secondly i think you were exagerating slightly seby wen u said ALL christians spat. I think it was more like a pathetic minority
Damn it i need to edit that above comment. Finishing the sentence..... nuclear or chemical could then be classed as a WMD.
In response to Seb, Reporters and people in Kuwait have said that scuds have been fired. However they really should have said "scud like" missles have been fired, because the official military position is that none of the missiles have been identified as scuds.
Anyway it's irrelevant really
I agree Bob, and yes it is irrelevant Mark. The war has started, like it or not, and people need to support the troops. Many bad things are happening and will continue to happen until the Iraqi regime is overthrown completely. OUR troops, US and UK, are over there and need to be supported. My brother is in the 223rd Military Police Unit, and will be one of the first groups of foot soliers to enter Baghdad. Instead of arguing this and that, I want to ask that you pray for the troops over there, and I would appreciate it if you prayed for my brother in particular. His name is Chuck.
