Top Five Reasons Why You Should Stop Using Internet Explorer

<<< Previous Entry: Go Speed Site Go! | This Month's entries | Next Entry: The Reason I'm not scared of having long entry titles >>
  1. It incorrectly displays boxes. Which may sound pathetic, and it kinda is, but it's symptomatic as to why Microsoft Internet Explorer is wrong as a whole. The people who made HTML and CSS said one day that when you said a box was a certain size, that meant the text in side the box would fill that size. So if the box is 300px, you'd get 300px of text. Microsoft said "we know better" and decided that what you meant when you said a box was this big, was that would it include the gaps between the text and the edge of the box (including the border). Which is just wrong. And annoying. And stupid. If you really care here is the place to go.
  2. It's a magnet for viruses. It just is. Okay!
  3. Everytime you use a microsoft product, a new reality tv show is created. Proof, the only industry that's growing as fast as the software industry is those companies that make reality tv shows. Coincidence? I think not.
  4. Every single other browser is better. Internet explorer can't do half the stuff that opera or netscape can do. I've turned off popup windows that popup in the background now. Hooray! No more popup ads for me! Oh and I can pretend I'm other browsers, and I can resume downloads I started a while ago. Internet Explorer is so featureless
  5. All the cool kids diss microsoft. I was on the bus the other day and these two cool guys where all "hehe I created this virus for microsoft, yeah bill gates sucks" "oh man u rock" "lol dood" (they where so cool they spoke in 733t speak and actually said lol as a word). And these two guys had the coolest pen holders in their pockets. Man I'm becoming such a nerd lately, I really need to go get one of those life things. Y'know. Apparently they come in handy. Oh man I'm even more nerdily than stoobs right now. Gee. :(

lardpony

reasons you should use internet explorer and none of the other weird browsers:

1) the other ones are weird
2) IE is there already, waiting for your tender caress
3) netscape invented war
4) opera is named after opera.

Seboo

5)ie is part of your operating system and if un-installed will cause your computer to die in a horrible way.

I also had a customer earlier who said the broadband installer told her to un-install ie... Hmmm

Pixxe

So mark doesn't like aol he doesn't like IE so what do u use then mark? some homemade thingy or a secret one that noones apart from u has ever heard of?

sparticus

Pixxe: See Point 4

this post inspired me to download ie 6. things strangely look different in ie 6 than in ie 5.5 ..... i want 5.5 back!!!

sparticus

You'll get over it. It's better than 5.5, but it's still not as good as Opera. Download Opera! Go on, I dares you...

Sebooo

Unless u have win 98. In which cause your fcukd! Since win 98 and ie 6.0 have severe problems :S

sparticus

6. It doesn't work with it's own software

Benjamin

Please udno point 6..... I have win 98 and ie6, and it only crashes as much as it did before I installed ie6, in other words its because of windows. Don't diss ie and microsoft so much mark without installing linux!

sparticus

I'll diss IE as much as I want!

Jeremy

Windows is by Microsoft, so saying that windows crashes alot, your dissing microsoft yourself. Plus, win98 is fine is you have the second version of it.

Matt

...or buy a mac...

Seboooo

Win 98 + ME are the most shite of all o.s 's. Xcept for people who try use linux but dont understand nething about it all and therefore just look at the desktop and think 'ohhh'. *certain person who signs this website cough*
Its like one big battle to get nething to work on linux. As for win 98 and ME (millenium) dont even bother with nething usb, it will never work. Another good one is illeagal ops on win 98 and ME. Aint seen XP or 2000 do that. (as of yet)

sparticus

Plus ME won't upgrade to XP properly.
I want to try linux just to see if I like it. It's too much effort splitting a harddrive and running multiple OS's. Especially if I end up not liking linux

Seboooo

The worst is the 95 upgrade to 98 as it needs to have the binding between TCP/IP and NetBious....Dont even go there

sparticus

Oh dear, I remember doing that, man that sucked. I'm so glad that 95's dead now. Hooray!

Nosila

i've spent the last 72 hours trying to fix my computer after ie6 messed it up completely. mind you, my os is ME so that explains a lot. at the moment i'm feeling very anti-microsoft >

troll

hey? my ie6 has this weird problem. about every 4th time i right click a link, usually to open in new window, a new window opens, often as not a window i opened much earlier, but also as a new instance of ie6 ? like i look at task manager and i might have three or four instances of ie6 working at one time? each one using 15mb of ram? it sucks? anybody know how to fix this?

sparticus

umm, try updating everything relating to windows xp via the tools->windows update thing in explorer. A service pack came out around jan/feb so that may solve it.
