Version 10: About Time

<<< Previous Entry: Things to do while you are home | This Month's entries | Next Entry: Bluebird/Kinesis/Hell Is For Heroes >>

I would like to announce to the world in general that I've finally finished redesigning iamsparticus. If you think it's great thank you. If you don't, well then tough (there is a possibilty that by upgrading your browser (which you should do anyway) that it'll look much much better). I'd like to draw your attention to the little thing on the menu that says "skin me" click it for mild amusement.
Anyway I haven't thoroughly tested it, so if things break, just comment it or something...

Let's start again shall we?
Right, in my eagerness to get everything working yesterday, I forgot to delete the other index page. So there were two conflicting pages you viewed when you went to iamsparticus.co.uk
I apologise. The people responsible for hiring the people responsible (and the llamas) were shot.
I've found a few bugs with the displaying of the entry titles, which I'll fix over the next day or so. I'll also stop blogging about this site.

Right Now

I'd laugh if I got it all working and this part messed up. No, No I wouldn't I'd cry. So I'd best test it.

sparticus

Oh it does work!
Go everthing.

Seboo

If it looks crap, it didn't work. Actually even if it does, it looks crap... just lightly less so...

William Hague

A very nice site indeed

sparticus

William Hauge! I look forward to seeing you on "Have I Got News For You" next week, almost as much as I look forwarding to seeing Charlotte Church on it the week after.
Oh and matthew where you attempting to do something like :O

stoobs

she isnt 18 yet mark you dirty man

sparticus

Yes... I know full well that she's not 18, I'm looking forward to it because it'll be amusing to see her take a show like that. Not because of any reasons that you might suggest. Honestly Stoobs, I'm discusted.

William Hague

How easy is this site to maintain m8?

Rob

I like it... except for one thing. Lack of validity. Fix your code, it's all over the place! :P

Also, try the spaceman skin thingy in Mozilla 1.4a. It just isn't good... the little comments boxes are floating, but *underneath* the larger boxes.

If you need a hand, I'm a bored uni student, so...

Sebooo

Wow william Hague. The spaceman spiff thing rocks!! Who is he?

sparticus

A) It's only not valid because xhtml 1.0 is like impossible to validate, it's all coded fine apart from the occasional missing /> or something... I'm going to change it all back to html 4 and it'll validate fine.
Anyway far more important than xhtml 1.0 complaince it's all semantic! woohoo! Plus I saw that in mozilla due to mozilla's (and netscape's) incorrect interpretation of box heights and stretching and stuff. I'll try to think of a work round at some point...

Oh and spaceman spiff is a character from Calvin And Hobbes he's very cool.

BR3ACH

Wally, I got your email. In the middle of building my site using Invision Board 1.1.2 and its quite good.

Have a look

http://www.baglanrfc.co.uk

Will email you a bit later to find out how the moveabletype thing works.

Sebooo

Br3ach sits next to me :)

steph

ooooh, i like. the spaceman spiff skin wees on the other one from a great height, though.

sparticus

That Miss Steph, is coz you are probably using ie 5.something. Go upgrade.

nosila

oooooh funktastic!!! whooot!

Matthew

the second time I managed my face...

You sure you want to be building a site around IPB 1.1.2 when 1.2 is just around the corner?

Benjamin

HAHAHA Mark I love the way you say "IE is evil destroy it because of it's evilness and rubbishness BOH" but then you say...

"due to mozilla's (and netscape's) incorrect interpretation of box heights and stretching and stuff"

(I feel a geeky response coming on...)

sparticus

Look, every single browser in the world incorrectly interprets some aspect of css, but mozilla and opera and the like generally get it wrong because the w3c is just so confusing when it writes the specification.
IE just disregards the specification and does it the microsoft patronising way.
