Exams

Today I got to invigilate (I think that's the word) and exam. T'was boring. You know when you're in an exam and finish early and sit there doing nothing. Well it's like that but without the advantage of being able to doodle plans on your paper of ways you're going to prevent your parents from seeing your exam results. It's dull I tell you.

Radiohead to do an arena tour

Radiohead are doing an arena tour. Good for them (y). I however, shall be seeing them in a much smaller venue (about 48,000 people less). Excellent.

New windows called Longhorn?

Apparently the new version of windows is going to be called Longhorn. Which sucks. Also it's apparently full up of stuff that "protects" your content. Basically there is a part of your computer that'll be completed protected from access. Which includes you. It's for like mp3's you download, so you can't edit them and stuff. And people can send you private e-mails you can't forward. So it's a windows product, that stops you from accessing certain portions of your hard-drive but you can download stuff to that part you can't access. I bet it'll be 2 weeks before someone releases a virus that hides in there.

Tut tut... that's old news about windows... thought you'd've been more up to date Mark! Anyway it'll all be a springboard for the Linux Revolution...

Sebooo

It also repairs itself when damaged :D!!

lardpony

will all of my cracked software and porn still run on it?

Sebooo

Im sure it wont. My Win XP wont installing anything to do with windows, cause its illegal apparently? .. Im more than sure it isnt. Stooped windows

stoobs

how do i get rid of a virtus which is in my system volume information and all that restore stuff. its very annoying. i reckon i have to format the hard drive :(

sparticus

If I format this computer and re-install xp I have to call up to request a new product activation number and all this stuff.
Oh and apparently you have to get a new number if you upgrade your motherboard.
And all you cracked software and porn will be forwarded to Microsoft.
Ben's right though, if the next windows version does have more control over my computer than I do, then I'm going linux. Or Mac.

Seboooo

MAC? Not really worth it unless ur designing graphics....linux? Mehhh red hat seems a good bet! And stoobs I would like to bring about the point that formatting a p.c. doesnt always remove virus's

stoobs

hows about kicking it up the ass?

Sebooo

Worth a try

Benjamin

I find that throwing your computer out of the window eliminates the effects of viruses - I recommend it!

sandi

I find that a good anti-virus application regularly updated with the latest pattern files tends to do the trick nicely.

sparticus

Sandi has a point (use AVG, it's free!), and while Red Hat Linux is geektasticly cool, it's not the best thing for day to day desktop use. Lycoris (or whatever it's called) is much better at that.
