I love the way windows lets you take photos of it breaking.
More about One Big Weekend later, probably. Or possibly stuff about Helen's job. Woo yeah.

mmmm. m32 blaster
So, I read that and I think. "Really? But my virus scanner's been updating itself regularly, and I haven't opened any attachments recently, or anything like that, but I'd better check". 60 minutes later, and my up to date virus scanner returns the information "found 0 viruses". Wonderful.
It gets passed through port 135 which is left open by default to share files between fellow XP users on an internal network or in this case a WAN (using TFTP). Since you had no firewall and you use a hub at home I can only asume you either a) plugged direct into the CM or b) connected via dial up. This is because the Hub will not be able to forward information on port 135 to your P.C. from the host p.c.
Ahhh, I see. Cunning little devil. Fortunately though, it was just windows being stupid and deciding that it needed to shut itself down. Memo to self, use firewall.
No walley, it was the virus. I see it more than 40 times a day
Seriously, I don't have the worm... You get that error message for other things as well as that worm. 2 scans now from my virus scanner, and nothing, and my computer has had the blaster worm patch installed for ages now, so I don't see how it could have got in.
i reckon that the 'sparticus' we are speaking to is in fact a worm in sheep's clothing!
Its caused by pure crap programming of the virus, not sure the techy info. Youre anti virus will not find it. Only the msblast removal tool will.
Surely if it's Blaster, Mark'd have got a lot more shutdowns than just that one?
No. If blast doesnt have a vaild internet connection. OR. If he is connecting through something like a hub (which he is) Then the blaster will not be engaged. *Possibly.
ALSO
If mark has installed the patch it will stop it shutting down as it 'plugs the hole' in windows programmnig.
One could argue if he has was infect and has NOT run the removal tool then it is entirely possible that he could experience certain symptoms of the virus... Could he not?
What does "if he has was infect" mean??!
Note to self: don't annoy Seb too much as I am now an NTL customer. 2 days after having it installed that is, thanks to NTL "improving" their services...
They upgraded Harmony. Its now slower than other.
Indeed. But can you tell me why IE hangs for about 5 seconds every time I leave a form field?
How the f*dge should I know. DNS? Cache? Take your Pic
If you want to say fridge, just say it. I blame Windows 98 and the 2 worms I got yesterday anyway :P
Windows 98? What do u expect.
It always takes ages when you sign a g/book. Also welcome to the world of stale cache pages. Every time u visit sparticus get ur fingures on CTRL F5.
Right, I'm putting an end to this now. Tomorrow, when I take my laptop to work and get broadband access, I'm going to download one of these here blaster hunter killer devices, and I'm going to use it and see if I really do have it. I doubt it though seeing as I've never been connected to the internet any other way apart from through a lan for the last 2 months.
That will show them.
And look further down at my port 115 SFTP.

Erm. Walley...you do release thats the blaster bug....and if your p.c. is infected your going to be picked up and shoved into a walled DNS for 13 hours. Ohhh if the DNS wasnt fubarr'd that is.
