One of the pleasures of spending a week with kids from a completely different culture to you, is that you can get to learn a whole new vocabulary. Possibly the best new word I've heard in a quite a while is the word, "merc'd".
Merc: To be beat someone thoroughly and comprehensively at something, especially when the other person doesn't even come close to you.

Gangsta can mean excellent, but a very specific sort of excellent. It really has to related to a Rap or Hip-Hop life style kind of thing. I don't use it in anything other than a very sarcastic way as a) I'm white, b) I have no interest in Rap or Hip-hop (apart from that new D12 song, that's ace!) and c) I'm over the age of sixteen.

Could someone confirm to me that the word 'gangsta' is in common usage amongst today's youth as a synonym for 'excellent'? And that it is slightly more hip and/or trendy than 'ace', 'brill', or indeed 'wicked'?
I'm not quite sure why I need to ask this, actually; I'll be wearing a baseball cap back to front before you know it.
