Top Five Christmas Songs Ever

  • Far Featuring Chino Moreno and Will Haven - Do They Know It's Christmas?
  • Low - Just Like Christmas
  • Six By Seven - I Believe In Father Christmas
  • Belle and Sebastian - O Come O Come Emmanuel (One of the many sad things about John Peel's death is that they'll be no Belle and Sebastian Christmas special on Radio 1 like there has been previously, where Belle and Sebastian play lots of Carols and Christmas songs)
  • The Pogues Featuring Kirsty MacColl - A Fairytale Of New York City

Christmas Time, don't let the bells end has gotta be on there surely? (PS send me my phone)

Sparticus

No it shouldn't because it's not as good as any of those songs. Not nearly as good.

Wood

I quite agree. No song with a knob joke in the title has the right to call itself a festive classic.

I see you've got the XFM Christmas record, too. Not sure about the Six by Seven song - Greg Lake's original version is much better (and anyway, I like the Snow Patrol song on that record better still).

I also agree about the B&S Christmas show. Last year's was brilliant.

You know Stuart Murdoch professes to be a Christian these days?

Podgy

Oi. Benjamin. I aggree I like the Darkness Song. (PS stop being an ungrateful whiner)

Benjamin

A whiner? Politely asking him and reminding him isn't working.... If mark was a company I could probably take him to the small claims court by now for taking over 28 days (note I am not a lawyer and that may be complete rubbish)

Dan

My favourite from recent years is She Came Home For Christmas by Mew.

Of course the theme from "the snowman" by Aled Jones is an absolute classic.

THE POGUES IS THE BEST XMAS SONG!!!!

Hey Mark! Haven't been to your website in a while. This comment is in reference to the link you have about why Americans don't believe in evolution. I didn't know where else to comment about it. Definitely an interesting blog. I thought I'd pass along a website that you might find interesting. It's answersingenesis.org (I didn't know if it would take the html to make a link, so I didnt' try). This organization is about teaching the true history of the universe, the Earth, and the Bible. They not only give Biblical references as to why evolution is incorrect, but also scientific proof! Mainly, because believing in evolution takes the absolute authority away from God. I could type a book on this, but I won't. I just thought it's something you'd like to check out.

Sparticus

Lets not discuss the evolution argument here shall we? Let it just be said that untill someone can show me from scripture that a literal six day creation is more biblical than a poetic/metaphoric six day creation I'm sticking with the latter.
I really couldn't care for the scientific arguments.

Wood

Good lad.
