  • I moved house yesterday. It's involved a lot of lifting and moving and cursing at my idea of packing all my books into one large box, but with a fair amount of effort and help from other people, the unpacking is largely done. Photos to follow at some point. Needless to say, it's rather snazzy. If you're after my new address, it's on Facebook and if you're not on Facebook... uh I suppose I could you know, send you a plain text e-mail or something equally Victorian with it in...
  • We (myself and the girlfriend) after a day of unpacking yesterday went to see the Premiere of Shrek the Third. In real life Justin Timberlake is exactly how you'd imagine him to look, except if you imagined that he'd look sexy. He doesn't. The film itself was better than I expected (mostly because I expected to want to punch Justin Timberlake's character), though similar to the other Shrek film I've seen, all the minor characters get the best lines / laughs.
  • Regarding the Apple announcements yesterday, if you follow Apple geekery, you'll know that for years (since OS X began) people have been crying out for a fix to the finder, sometimes to the extent of people saying they want nothing new, just a fixed finder. So why the big disappoint with the keynote? If the finder's fixed, you should be happy. Punks.

Consistent UI styling and a new Finder were all I really wanted (though I wasn't sure we'd get either), so Quick Look was a great addition. I'll be happy as long as the new Finder does file selection properly and allows you to hold Shift to select a range of files in icon mode, and allows keyboard-based selection in list mode to deselect files you've mistakenly selected rather than selecting more files from the other end of the range. (I've got used to it though so maybe that won't matter.)

Where You Take Part

You have two options in expressing yourself publicly on this site. If you have a new fangled blog type website (like this one) you can write what you want to say on your own site and link to this entry. I'll register that you've written something about it and provide a link to it below (this is called a trackback). If you don't have a website or just don't want to waste its time with me then you can add a good old fashioned comment. Fill in the blanks and press go to make your opinion heard among handfuls!

Caveats and the such

A few lines need to be said here. I'm currently a youth worker, therefore I have to watch how I interact with young people. Therefore if you're a young person whom I know through work you need to ask your parents permission to comment on this. That sucks I know, but it gives you something other than voting and drinking to look forward to when you hit eighteen.

All the views expressed here are opinions of whoever wrote them. They also are copyrighted to you under law. However, because you're nice by commenting on this you agree to have your views licensed under whatever creative commons licence this website is.

Spam will be deleted and anyone caught doing it will be black-listed.

If you click 'remember personal information' your details will be stored in a cookie on your computer and you'll never see this message again. Hooray!
